HELP PADS COMPASS HEAL

Team Compass recently accessed the PADS Client Emergency Vet Fund to cover the cost of two unexpected surgeries. Now, they're looking to pay it forward. Read their story below, and help replenish the fund for future Assistance Dog Teams.

"PADS Compass is not just my service dog—she is my lifeline. As someone living with the most painful condition on the McGill Pain Index, Compass gives me the freedom and safety to live beyond the limits of chronic pain. She is my partner, my strength, and my connection to the world.

Due to mine and my husbands’ medical needs, a relocation to Vancouver Island, and needing to renovate our new condo to make it accessible for us, the financial burdens have become overwhelming.

Recently Compass underwent laser eye surgery and urgent dental surgery. The cost of both surgeries, medication, and special food while she heals has totaled $5,000.

PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs Society) graciously covered the cost of both surgeries.

Your donation will help:

  • Cover the cost of Compass’s surgeries and post-op care.
  • Replenish the PADS Emergency Medical Fund so future service dog teams can access help when urgent health issues arise.
  • Support other PADS dog teams who may face financial hardship when their partners need unexpected medical care.

Every single dollar makes a difference.

Compass has given me the ability to live more fully despite immense physical pain. Now I want to return that gift by ensuring she—and other service dogs—can get the medical care they need."

With deep gratitude,
Fern Kwantes & PADS Compass
